Welcome to Behaviorally Speaking: Grow, Learn, Lead, a collection of stories designed to help young children discover the leadership skills they use every day.
Young children can learn how to lead by being kind, responsible, respectful, and helpful. Through engaging stories, children will explore important life skills such as taking turns, sharing, listening, problem-solving, showing empathy, and working together with others.
Join Maya, Emery, and their friends as they navigate everyday adventures that teach valuable lessons about friendship, character, and leadership. Each story is designed to help children grow in confidence, learn new skills, and lead through their actions.
At Behaviorally Speaking: Grown, Learn, Lead, we believe that leadership begins early. When children learn to make thoughtful choices, care for others, and contribute positively to their communities, they are developing the foundation for lifelong success.
Whether you are a parent, caregiver, educator, or young reader, we invite you to explore these stories together and discover how small moments can create meaningful growth.
Grow. Learn. Lead. One story at a time.
The Leadership Lesson Every Child Should Learn: Taking Turns
In this Grow, Learn, Lead story, Maya the butterfly and Emery the caterpillar share a meaningful experience: learning how to take turns and celebrate each other.
When Maya finishes flying, Emery reminds her, “Leaders take turns,” and Maya makes space and cheers him on.
Through this gentle and engaging story, children learn that leadership is not about always going first. It is about sharing, encouraging others, and helping each person shine in their own way.
This story supports the development of important social-emotional skills such as cooperation, empathy, and confidence, foundations of leadership that begin early in life.
